Over the course of the school year, six character traits are promoted through classroom guidance lessons and the Character Board. Each month a character trait is highlighted, students that demonstrate that specific trait are nominated by teachers and faculty and their name is displayed on the Character Board.
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is celebrated each year to promote safe and healthy choices. There will be grade level contests (coloring, poster, and essay). Drug facts will be posted on the Counseling Office window, as well as shared over the morning announcements.
Random Acts of Kindness
Random Acts of Kindness week is all about spreading kindness to others. Previous activities we have done for RAK week has included creating a RAK chain for each RAK that is recorded, sending thank you letters to adults in the school, as well as theme days for the week.
Collection Swap
This year, we are partnering with BHS Key Club to collect drink tabs and box tops. Our school will collect drink tabs for BHS Key Club and they will collect box tops for Blackman Elementary. The drink tabs will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Nashville to help support families with children in the hospital. The box tops will help raise funds for Blackman Elementary. Students can drop off drink tabs in their House containers outside the Counseling Office. We can only accept drink tabs- no vegetable or soup can tabs! We will collect drink tabs until March 6th.
Career Day
We are looking forward to our annual Career Day at the end of May! It's never too early to start learning about all of the different types of careers out there. All of our students look forward to stopping at each career booth to hear about the different career choices. If you are interested in speaking to our students about your career, please contact me.
